Name:Wormwood
Birthdate:Jun 6
Location:The Hamlet
Wormwood looks like the halfway point between a human being and a tree, being six feet tall with green bark-like 'skin', two arms, two legs, and a face with eyes and a ragged mouth; they are in fact descended from neither of the two, being the product of a small crystalline meteorite from the Constant's moon and an assemblage of vines the gem shaped around itself. Instead of fingers, they have three sturdy and flexible leaves on each hand, and similar leaves on the ends of their feet; instead of hair, they have one long curling vine that ends in a large broad leaf. Their voice is harsh and buzzing, which many creatures find unpleasant if they aren't used to or prepared for it.

They're a monoecious flowering plant, meaning that they produce both male and female gametes from their blooms; in the peak of springtime they leave a trail of their own flowers, but without the mineral component their 'offspring' flowers are ordinary plants rather than a gaggle of baby Wormwoods. This also means they don't really fit into the mammalian gender binary but they really just go along with whatever pronoun anyone else wants to apply to them. (I've stuck to "them" in this narration for clarity but their canon uses both "him" and "them".)

Wormwood has a deep bond with other plants. Aggressive plants are friendly or indifferent to them unless Wormwood's done something to personally anger them, they can grow lush vegetable gardens in even the poorest soil (though not generally on carpeting, floorboards, or naked rock) simply by shoving seeds into the dirt, they can extrude strange wooden growths from their body in order to make peculiar items, and they can feel the condition of other plants through a sense of psychic sensitivity attuned to plants and, to a lesser extent, fungi. However, while their plant empathy makes them a supernaturally good gardener, they can't psychically command the plants to do anything or make them grow new senses or rapidly produce huge amounts of new material, which largely rules out using them as attack dogs, spies, or grappling limbs. They probably would be able to read the emotions or maybe even the thoughts of another plant-person if they met one, but it's never come up.

The mun can be found at crankycameo at gmail, via PM, or PM me either here or at [personal profile] cameoflage - or find me in crackchat - for my Discord username because I don't want spambots getting ahold of it.

Wormwood is from Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together, and is the property of Klei Entertainment. They appear here solely for the purpose of role-playing, from which no profit whatsoever is being made.
